detroits eric johnston who has already brought archipel a remix of marc neyen and an ep on kalimari now brings us a superb four track 12 inch entitled >silly girl<. this whole package is a highly rhythmic affair which while darkly tinted remains very funky. >stop calling me< is the most percussion oriented of the pieces and instantly sucks you into its very well thought out labyrinth of sky high rhythms which are layered just so and double dipped in liquid funk while >labrador< strips things down a little more and wraps you in blankets of warm and rubbery groove. >worth it< carries on with the perfect shuffle and utilizes a wonderful blend of warmth and funk which take hold of your mind and feet with an unrelenting grip while it ebbs and flows, building a heated story as it progresses. >munted< could be three pieces in and of itself but blends them all expertly into one single solid storyline which takes you through mazes of juicy percussion and excellently placed, darkly hued, very deep chords.

much awaited return to lost trax! scsi-av has been a well respected electro and techno label since it was born in september 2008. almost 12 years later and after a short break scsi is back with a classy detroit techno record which has been sat in the vaults for quite some time waiting patiently to be released. as the second part of the lost trax series. expect deep bass, booming 808 kicks and carl craig-esque sounding strings. the production on both sides of this record is amazing showing the digital generation that analogue kit still sounds supreme. the lost trax series is a project for producers who have inspired the label to record something special and release anonymously as we dont believe its necessary to sell music on the strength of a specific artists reputation.

q: how did quinn and alexis meet?
a: the two were introduced by chris veltri, owner of legendary record shop groove merchant in san francisco. veltri and luke had made a pair of plunderphonic dusted disco 12 inches under the name coppa. georgopoulos was a founder of the group tussle and asked if coppa would do a tussle remix. this led to luke acting as producer on the tussle album telescope mind.

here a private pressing of 200 copies with some exciting works of mr bottin who is for sure one of the most active producers in the new disco umwelt this year! one super sweet and sexy track called sage oil. disco just dont get much hotter then this. flip side had a track called hot lizard which is a rawer and more masculine piece as many of us might know from the typical italian police series and horror movie scores from the late 70s and early 80s. recommended!

one of the rare new terrence dixon releases... this time on the nice meakusma. the two original tracks are two deep space jams with and from a detroit mindset, the remixes on the flipside by upperground orchestra take the >room 310< track into deep jazz territory. cosmic insanity! very much recommended!

after a rather long break, this june will finally see the next release on orphanear records, the berlin-based label ran by pawel, who recently celebrated the release of his highly praised first full-length album on dial records. orphanear 004 introduces a stunningly talented singer and songwriter from denmark, called gry. she isnt new to the music world at all, worked previously on critically acclaimed projects with fm einheit and under various other project names such as the loverz and aeter with jacob kirkegaard. orphanear releases two remixes of her track >all comes<, that will be included on her forthcoming ep >anima<. one beautifully deep and masterfully produced remix by german wunderkind christian loeffler and a peak time stomper by adultnapper from new york. prepare to hear much more soon from this lady with the amazing voice.

this is a well-rounded compilation of material from various plan b recordings artists. up first is dakini9s remix of >swine<, a track originally made by spider & lola. this is a deep, minimal techno track, with squealing pigs and industrial sounds which were recorded in pig slaughter houses and have been layered throughout the track. second up is courages >mildred< track. this is one of those tracks that just makes you want to dance, period. this is from his >feast or famine ep<, which will be coming out later this year. the third track is from detroits very own bileebob (underground resistance, detroit grand pubahs), who teams up with his agriculture partner, marshallito. here we have an amazing array of driving drumbeats and chaotic synth work that blends perfectly together for an infectious, grooving dance floor banger! the final track is from dj spider: a deep house track, with a funky bass line, nice synth work and a good driving beat. this house track completes the compilation and also gives you a taste of the diversity of this labels sound.

second release on the b rand new imprint from those lovely people over at the acclaimed sleazybeats blog. after their first two releases selling out in record time, sleazy beats recordings is quickly proving to be the go-to label for buy on sight disco-sleaze. they are back for more this time with their third release, and it seems third time is a charm, with a smashing record by tornado wallace, a hot new mid-tempo guru from melbourne, who delivers a blistering ep of dirty, pitched down head nodders.

wicked uk funky/dancehall bomb on soul jazz records! a super large funky refix of rubi dan s voicing to move down low for sheffield s grievous angel. move down low has received huge support from hyperdub boss and tastemaker kode9 who has literally had crowds falling over themselves to this beast!

in the dark shadows of the rooftops of haknam we meet esc.eip, who enriches haknams second release with his affinity for deconstruction. his elements appear, melt and fade away to materialise in a deep, winding, dusky jam. the ever transforming structures contrast paranoid harmonies with the forceful percussive rolls, as in >unsound behaviour<. on the b side is >miraa<, the aftertaste of a blissed out acid trip, soft shades build a warm space in which a lost saxophone appears and disappears.

back again we have the mediterranean flavor of the friends affkt and alberto sola. always experimenting with different ingredients like the cooker ferran adria, the guys who laid the first stone of the legendary label barraca, now present a hybrid of pop and house which will leave no one indifferent. ‘pobla loves you’ was born with the tuba of alberto cuartero, orchestra director of hoya gonzalo in albacete. marc and alberto (affkt and sola) wanted to have a typical instrument of a band and merged it with the electronic dance scene, always being faithful to his maxim of making music to dance as well as to listen. if we surround valencia, road to pobla de farnals, we passed through la canada. there are los updates, who upon hearing the organic rhythm of pobla and the work with the wind instruments, set to work with the voices. perfectly adapted to the capital of the turia river, jorge and loreto propose a valencian poem that their children have learned at school. the moon of valencia then join our dinner for four. finally, we add to our paella a bit of percussion and keyboards made in affkt, to get a main course and obtain a typical valencian plate but by adding a little chilean salt becomes international. more oriented to the dance floor, there are three rather different remixes. new union between spain and chile, with danny fiddo and felipe venegas. this couple present an elegant and deep remix with drums and vocals perfectly adapted to the current sound. moreover, the french man darlyn vlys re-interpreted >pobla loves you< with a lot of groove and percussion added. finally, affkt gives his funker version of events to complete a job that will come out by the german label international freakshow
